To Swim or Not to Swim

Good day! I have had a lot of questions about the Pool... At the moment, we as a community have the opportunity to weigh in on the future of the recreation complex and specifically the pool or the creation of an additional pool space. The referendum's yes vote will provide the opportunity to the next council to decide what is best to be done. I am in favour of fiscal responsibility first and foremost and I am in favour of what is the best return on our investment should we go forward with a development. The challenge with the existing pool is the accessibility for seniors, persons with disabilities and even young children. In order to be attractive as a community, we also need to look at being current with our facilities to attract people to live here too. While this isn't the single factor people look at, it is a factor in the mix. Additionally, there is an economic spin off when we are able to host swim meets, curling bonspiels and hockey tournaments for restaurants, hotels and other businesses. The issue isn't as cut and dried as a yes or no vote. While the referendum is not binding on council, it does afford the option to keep the dialogue going if there is a yes vote. A no vote shuts down the conversation full stop.

Please keep the questions coming!
